CRC1709 welcomes Prof. Brian Huntly as invited speaker

As part of the CRC1709 Invited Speaker Series, we are pleased to welcome Prof. Brian Huntly from the University of Cambridge.

In his lecture, “Dissecting downstream gene regulatory circuits in AML via critical TF interrogation,” Prof. Huntly will present his latest research on the gene regulatory networks that drive acute myeloid leukemia (AML). His work combines functional genomics with transcriptional and epigenetic analyses to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying leukemia development and to identify novel therapeutic targets.

Prof. Huntly is Head of the Department of Haematology and Professor of Leukaemia Stem Cell Biology at the University of Cambridge, where he also serves as Chair of the Clinical Haematology Department at Cambridge University Hospitals. In addition to his clinical and research leadership, he is President Elect of the European Hematology Association (EHA) and Co-Lead of the Cambridge Haematological Malignancies Virtual Institute, one of Europe’s largest haematology research networks.

His laboratory investigates how normal stem and progenitor cell function is progressively altered during the development of acute myeloid leukemia and malignant lymphomas. By integrating functional, genomic, proteomic, transcriptional, and epigenetic approaches across experimental models and patient-derived samples, his team aims to uncover disease mechanisms and develop innovative therapeutic strategies.

The seminar offers an excellent opportunity to learn about recent advances in leukemia stem cell biology, transcriptional regulation, and the molecular evolution of AML, topics that closely align with the scientific objectives of CRC 1709.

📅Date: Monday, July 27, 2026
