CRC1709 Postdoc Karin Prummel Presents New Insights into AML Bone Marrow Niche Remodeling

CRC1709 congratulates Karin Prummel, postdoctoral researcher B05 & B07, on a series of outstanding scientific achievements highlighting the impact of her work within CRC1709.

At the European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress 2026 in Stockholm, Karin presented her work in an oral presentation entitled:

Perturbation ofleukemic stem cell states reveals aTGFβ-driven niche remodelingprogram in AML

Her research demonstrates how leukemic stem cells actively remodel the bone marrow microenvironment through a TGFβ–CREB3L1 signaling axis, promoting fibrotic stromal states that support leukemia progression. By integrating xenograft models with single-cell transcriptomics, spatial analyses, and functional perturbation experiments, the study identifies a potential therapeutic target for disrupting leukemia–microenvironment interactions in acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

In recognition of this work, Karin received an EHA Travel Award.

In addition to EHA, Karin also presented her research at the Innovations in Single Cell Omics (ISCO) Conference in Barcelona, where she further showcased the CRC1709 project and acknowledged the Collaborative Research Center during her presentation.

Looking ahead, Karin will continue to represent CRC1709 at the International Society for Experimental Hematology (ISEH) Annual Meeting in Frankfurt later this summer, where she has again been selected for an oral presentation and received another Travel Award.
